Adventure Education & Leadership Major
Outdoor Recreation, Outdoor Leadership, Leadership Studies, Adventure Education… these are but a few of the terms generally associated with what Asbury calls Adventure Leadership. This is an area that is simultaneously unique to Asbury due to our approach to the field and growing in the world of higher education due to an increasing job market. At Asbury, Adventure is the Pedagogy AND the Curriculum, Leadership is the outcome. The Asbury University Center for Adventure Leadership (AUCAL) believes that:
· Adventure Leadership is Faith-based; all leadership study should be centered on the service leadership model of Christ illuminated in scripture.
· Adventure Leadership is Integrative; striving to embrace the conceptual framework provided by the liberal arts, every course and training should draw from a variety of disciplines.
· Adventure Leadership is Experiential; learning should be anchored by experience, modern academics must have an equal focus on theory and praxis.
