Admission Decision
Each candidate for admission is reviewed individually with careful consideration given to academic records, application essays, references and the ability to benefit from and contribute to the opportunities offered at Asbury University. Asbury University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, gender, age, national or ethnic origin, or handicap in the admission of students, in its educational policies or in its activities. In addition, Asbury University does not discriminate on the basis of religion in the admission of students and in student access to educational programs. Asbury University reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant when that decision is determined to be in the best interest of the student or the institution.
When a candidate has completed the application process, one of the following decisions will be made:
- Admission in Good Standing
- Conditional Admission. Applicants who fail to meet the minimum admission criteria may, in some instances, be granted conditional admission. Students granted conditional admissions are usually subject to provisions designed to promote academic achievement. These provisions may include a reduction in course load, and/or enrollment in specific classes or support programs.
- Provisional Admission. In some cases, students will be given provisional admission based on self-reported information or unofficial documents pending receipt of official documentation to complete their application file. If official documentation fails to arrive in the time period allowed, the student faces the potential of immediate suspension and, in any event, will not be allowed to register for the next semester.
- Denied Admission. The Director of Undergraduate Admissions may deny admission to any student whose academic records indicate little likelihood of academic success at Asbury University. Asbury University also reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant when that decision is determined to be in the best interest of the student or the institution. An applicant who has been denied admission has the right to appeal that decision in writing to the Admissions Review Committee provided the applicant can present relevant additional information in support of his or her application.
Notification
Candidates for admission who have completed the application process will receive notification of their admissions status. Information on the next steps of the enrollment process will be included with this communication.
Asbury Academy Admission
Admission as a High School Student for Dual Enrollment*
Asbury Academy is a dual credit/dual enrollment* program for high school juniors and seniors. This program provides opportunities for high school juniors and seniors to take select University courses (100- and some 200-level), enabling them to complete high school and earn University credit through dual enrollment. Students may participate in Asbury Academy during either or both the fall and spring semesters of their junior and senior year. Academy students may not take classes during the summer term.
*Dual Enrollment refers to students taking courses concurrently at two separate institutions, while dual credit refers to students completing a single course to earn academic credits that are recognized by two (or more) institutions or in two programs at the same institution. A dual enrollment may or may not allow students to earn dual credit, and a dual-credit experience may not entail concurrent enrollments at two separate institutions–it depends on how a specific course-taking situation is structured. Asbury Academy is both dual enrollment and dual credit. Students are enrolled at both their high school and at Asbury at the same time, and the single course earns them [the same] academic credit at both institutions.
Asbury Academy Fall 2024, Spring 2025 cost = $93 per credit hour^
Asbury University offers Academy classes on-campus to local students.
- Qualified high school juniors and seniors may take on-campus courses at the current Academy rate, up to 15 credit hours per fall/spring semester.
- Asbury Academy students may be eligible to apply the Kentucky Dual Credit Scholarship and Work Ready Scholarship funds toward dual credit tuition.
- Local high school seniors** are eligible to receive a tuition waiver for one on-campus course, not to exceed four (4) credit hours, in the Fall and Spring semesters.
- On-Campus Academy students must be able to provide their own transportation.
- On Campus enrollment, if taking 12.0 hours or more, requires emergency contacts and/or proof of medical insurance.
Asbury University also offers Academy classes online.
- High school juniors and seniors may take online courses at the current Academy rate. The Academy tuition waiver does not apply to online courses.
- Students choose from select online 100- and 200-level classes.
- Most online classes are offered in an 8-week intensive format. Due to the concentrated nature of these classes, a student may only be enrolled in one online course at a time.
- Academy students may take two consecutive online courses each fall/spring semester. Academy students may not take classes during the summer term.
Asbury Academy students are required to meet the same course prerequisites in order to register for the undergraduate classes. Academy partnership program courses are required to honor the Asbury term dates and grading due dates in accordance with financial aid regulations.
