Community Life
Asbury University is a community of learners in the Christian liberal arts tradition with a mission to prepare students educationally, socially, and spiritually to impact their world for Jesus Christ. The community is committed to foundational principles which promote the development of a holy, holistic and honoring life. At the heart of this community are Jesus’ two great commandments found in Matthew 22:37-40: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind…And…you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Chapel - One of the historic distinctives of Asbury University is the gathering of the traditional undergraduate student body in chapel three times a week. Local online students are welcome to attend Chapel on campus, as well as evening worship during our spiritual emphasis weeks in September and January. Services for Residential Students and Students Local to the Wilmore Campus
Center for Wholeness and Wellness - The Center for Wholeness and Wellness endeavors to equip and encourage Asbury University students toward greater personal and community health through the Health Services Clinic and Center for Counseling. The Center staff of licensed counselors, graduate level intern counselors, nurses and doctor work together toward developing the God-given potential of Asbury students.
Center for Counseling - offers a broad range of professional counseling services including individual, group, couples, pre-marital, marital and crisis counseling. Integrating counseling practice with Christ-centered principles, the office seeks to prepare students for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and service. Services are free for traditional undergraduate students who are currently enrolled for at least nine hours. Students registered for fewer than nine hours and online students pay a fee of $50 per session (no insurance required). All counseling services other than consultation/referral are provided on campus at the Center for Wholeness and Wellness. Visit asbury.edu/counseling for more information.
Health Services - The University maintains a well-equipped Health Services Clinic on campus with a competent staff of experienced registered nurses and a part-time physician. The Clinic is open weekdays during the traditional academic year (excluding summers). Residential traditional undergraduates may see the physician or nurses by appointment at no additional expense, except for certain prescription medications, diagnostic tests, and immunizations. Students in online programs who are local may schedule visits with the nurse or doctor on a fee-per-service basis. Since the Health Services Clinic does not participate with or bill any insurance, payment is due at the time of service. Activities Available On-campus
Intercollegiate Athletics - Asbury University recognizes the educational value of sports and maintains an extensive program of intercollegiate athletics. These programs are designed to give students the opportunity for physical exercise and participation in events which develop a spirit of cooperation and good sportsmanship. The programs are intended to be harmonious with the total training of students, preparing them to live as Christians in a competitive society. The varsity program is open to the skilled student-athlete who wants to participate in the highest level of athletic competition at Asbury University. Intramural Sports - The intramural program is open to all local Asbury University students, alumni, faculty, and staff. A variety of sports, activities, and special events are available throughout the year.

Student Publications - The Asbury Collegian (student newspaper) theasburycollegian.com is published by student staff and produced under the direction of a student/faculty Publications Committee related to the journalism program of the University. Other student publications include the Asbury Review (literary review magazine) and the Asburian (yearbook). On Campus Dining
Food is available for residents, commuters and visitors during stated hours at the Z.T. Johnson Cafeteria and Z.T.’s Bistro. Snacks are available in the Hiccup Café coffee shop in the student center. Traditional Undergraduate Meal Plans - Undergraduate students living in campus housing are required to sign up for one of the listed cafeteria meal plans outlined on asbury.edu/food. If a student has extenuating circumstances that might warrant an exception to the full meal plan requirements, they may submit a Reduced Meal Plan Application located under the Board Plan Requirements in the Student Handbook General Policies. For questions about meal plans, call the Student Accounts Office (859-858-3511 ext. 2330). With each meal plan, students have the option of purchasing Eagle Bucks to spend at different locations on campus, including the Bistro, Eagle Outlet and the coffee shops.
On Campus Residential Housing
Asbury University is committed to the residential university experience for traditional undergraduates and thus expects full-time single undergraduates to live in University housing. See asbury.edu/housing to learn more about the residence halls and campus housing or call 859-858-3511 ext. 2115.
Students meeting specific criteria may be eligible for an exception to living on campus and may file an Application to Live Off-Campus located under the Residency Requirements in the Student Handbook General Policies. For questions about living off campus, call the Business Affairs Office (859-858-3511 ext. 2140).
The University offers a limited number of one- and two-bedroom units for married and nontraditional-age undergraduate and graduate students, all unfurnished. Students wishing to make inquiries about this type of housing should contact the Physical Plant (859-858-3511 ext. 2443) at the earliest possible date, as there may be a wait list.
