MAT 170 - Introduction to Mathematical Modeling (1)This course is an introduction to mathematical modeling in conjunction with an international competition in modeling based on the use of functions to describe and explore real-world phenomena and data. Computational tools are used to implement, examine, and validate the created models. By working in teams, students are expected to actively engage in the modeling process by questioning phenomena, analyzing data, and using computational tools to develop and evaluate the efficacy of their models. May be repeated multiple times.
Prerequisite(s): MAT181 Grading Method: Credit/No Credit (P/N) Term Typically Offered: spring
