PS 243 - Political Thought (3)

The course aims to provoke critical thinking and discussion about the nature of political systems, justice, authority, and the role of religion in politics. In this course, we will use a standard text in the field (such as Rosen & Wolff’s Political Thought) to explore foundational questions and key thinkers in politics. Supplementing this, we delve into diverse perspectives such as Middle Eastern politics, involving the intersection of Islamic principles and democratic values, various reactionary political theories such as those popular right now in Silicon Valley, the relationship between Christian beliefs and various political philosophies, and the persistence of patriarchal systems.
