EQ 476 - Ethical Issues in the Equine Industry (2)This course surveys the history and development of the horse-human relationship to provide the context for exploring the role equines play in our society today. Contemporary issues in the equine industry will be examined from a welfare perspective, practicing the application of ethical decision-making models. To foster healthy communication about difficult topics, the course will also cover healthy communication and conflict management approaches in brief. To provide hands-on learning opportunities, the course will engage students in the development of ethical guidelines that can be applied within the context of the Asbury Equine Program to support sound equine management, training, breeding, equestrian sports, and human services that partner with equines, such as Equine Assisted Services and public services that involve equines, such as Mounted Police Units.
