MNG 652 - Ministry Innovation through Arts and Aesthetics (3)

As the medium of art has long represented the joys and angsts of the human condition, this course explores how new ideas of beauty and visual expression model engagement with eternal Christian values. It examines the historical use of art in the history of the church with its decline in Protestant church history towards a vision to restore the priority of various artistic expressions in the life of the church. The course examines contemporary art enterprises in ministry, from churches which prioritize art in worship to parachurch ministries that create art as an outreach to unbelieving artists. Models and methods are provided to imagine practices of innovation for ministry using art.
