MNG 651 - Ministry Innovation through Literature & Imagination (3)As literature captures the imagination, this course examines its characteristic ability to represent the human heart for creative application in ministry. An understanding of literary form, its genres and periods, and a sample classical and popular works are the foundation for imaging the methods and application in the life of the church. A theological understanding of “imagination” as a component of the human creative capacity reveals an element for a deeper but authentic Christian faith in a sacred imagination. From this foundation, the course explores practices of innovation for ministry through the use of literature, including preaching, writing, and theater in the life of the church. Additionally, it explores how literature can serve as an outreach ministry to contemporary guilds who employ and appreciate its donation to cultural history.
