PSY 322 - Integrating Equines Into Mental Health Services (3)

This course will introduce students to Equine-Assisted Mental Health (EAMH) services. The course will survey the history of EAMH services and theories, the current status and organization of the field, along with career and certification opportunities.  The course will cover foundational theories of EAMH interventions and practices and how these are applied with various populations and diagnosis.   Ethical considerations regarding current practices, issues related to the current organization of the field, as well as the lack of empirical data will be approached by applying critical thinking skills to support students in developing of a realistic understanding and appreciation for the early stage of development of EAMH services.

Prerequisite(s): PSY 101
Grading Method: Letter Grade
