PS 305 - Politics & Public Policy Making (3)A macro level view of the interrelationship between politics and policy making, this course examines the major theoretical approaches developed for understanding shifts in policy over time and across domains of public life. Assuming that “disjointed incrementalism” describes the typical process by which policy evolves, students then consider various frameworks to explain non-incremental change in policy structures, such as the multiple streams approach or the advocacy network approach. Includes an array of case studies at the national and state level in policy arenas such as health care, pension reform, education, and transportation.
Prerequisite(s): None Grading Method: Letter Grade Term Typically Offered: Every other Spring
