LTY 610 - Reading & Writing in the Content Areas in Middle/Secondary School (3)This course focuses on principles and methodologies currently in use for enhancing literacy in the middle/secondary school. Understanding of research findings on best practice for promoting continuous progress of diverse adolescent learners in reading for aesthetic purposes and the unique demands of constructing meaning from informational texts will be applied to classroom practice. The integration of content reading and writing that results in communicating meaning through various types of expository discourse will be addressed. Instruction will address the use and assessment of Kentucky Academic Standards in Reading, Composition, and Language for 6-12.
