HIS 101 - Western Civilization I (3)An introductory survey of social, intellectual, aesthetic, religious, and institutional developments of the western world up to the seventeenth century. The course will explore the foundational contributions made to the civilization of the West by the Greeks and Romans, as well as examine the rise and growth of the Christian faith and its impact on the Medieval and Reformation eras. The course concludes with a discussion of the Renaissance and the discovery of the Americas and how these developments prepared the West for the coming of the modern era.
